1. Dal Lake & Shikara Ride

The crown jewel of Srinagar. A Shikara ride on Dal Lake — past floating gardens, lotus flowers, and houseboats — is the single most iconic Kashmir experience. Best at sunrise (6 AM) or sunset (5 PM). Shikara ride: ₹400–₹800 per hour.

2. Shalimar Bagh — Mughal Garden

Built by Emperor Jahangir in 1619 for his wife Nur Jahan. A stunning terraced garden with fountains, chinar trees and mountain views. Entry: ₹24 per person. 8 km from Dal Lake.

3. Nishat Bagh — Garden of Joy

The largest Mughal garden in Kashmir — built in 1633 by Asif Khan. 12 terraces descending to Dal Lake with the Zabarwan mountains behind. Entry: ₹24. 11 km from Dal Lake.

4. Shankaracharya Temple

Ancient Shiva temple perched on a hill 1,000 feet above Srinagar — offering the best panoramic view of the entire city, Dal Lake, and surrounding mountains. 243 stone steps to the top. Free entry (camera fee applies). 3 km from Dal Lake.

5. Hazratbal Shrine

Kashmir’s most sacred Muslim shrine — set on the western shore of Dal Lake with a stunning white marble facade. Houses a relic of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). Free entry. 6 km from city centre.

6. Pari Mahal — Palace of Fairies

A stunning Mughal-era ruin on a hillside above Chashme Shahi — offering dramatic views of Dal Lake and Srinagar city. Beautiful at night when lit up. Entry: ₹25. 10 km from Dal Lake.

7. Chashme Shahi — Royal Spring

The smallest of Srinagar’s Mughal gardens — famous for its natural spring water said to have medicinal properties. Entry: ₹24. 10 km from Dal Lake.

8. Lal Chowk & Old City

Srinagar’s historic city centre — famous for the clock tower, traditional bazaars, Kashmiri handicraft shops, and street food. Best place to buy Pashmina shawls, saffron, Kashmiri dry fruits, and papier-mâché items. Free to explore.

9. Indira Gandhi Tulip Garden

Asia’s largest tulip garden — 1.5 million tulips in bloom from late March to mid-April. Set against the backdrop of Zabarwan mountains and Dal Lake. Open only during tulip season. Entry: ₹50 per person.

10. Dastgeer Sahib Shrine

One of the most important Sufi shrines in Kashmir — dedicated to Sheikh Abdul Qadir Geelani. Beautiful Kashmiri wooden architecture. Located in the old city. Free entry.
