Spring in Kashmir (March, April, May)
Spring is arguably the most popular time to visit Kashmir. The famous Indira Gandhi Tulip Garden in Srinagar — Asia’s largest tulip garden — blooms in late March and April, drawing visitors from across India.
March
Temperature: 5°C to 15°C. Snow begins melting in Srinagar. Gulmarg still has excellent snow for skiing. Almond trees bloom beautifully across the valley. Dal Lake is calm and perfect for Shikara rides.
April
Temperature: 10°C to 20°C. Peak tulip season. Mustard fields turn the valley yellow. Cherry blossoms appear. This is one of the most photographed times in Kashmir. Hotels book fast — plan at least 2 months in advance.
May
Temperature: 15°C to 25°C. Gardens are fully green. Pahalgam and Sonmarg open fully. Betaab Valley and Aru Valley are stunning. Perfect weather for families and honeymooners.

Summer in Kashmir (June, July, August)
While most of India swelters in heat, Kashmir offers a cool escape. Summer temperatures in Srinagar rarely exceed 30°C, and in Gulmarg and Pahalgam it stays between 10–20°C even in July.
June
Temperature: 20°C to 30°C in Srinagar, 10–18°C in Gulmarg. The Amarnath Yatra pilgrimage begins. Sonmarg is completely open and beautiful. Excellent for trekking the Thajiwas Glacier.
July
Temperature: 22°C to 32°C in Srinagar. Peak tourist season. All destinations fully open including Doodhpathri and Yusmarg. Book early as hotels fill up quickly.
August
Temperature: 20°C to 30°C. Slight rain possible but still beautiful. Offbeat destinations like Lolab Valley and Bangus Valley are at their greenest. Great time for photography.

Autumn in Kashmir (September, October, November)
Autumn is our team’s personal favourite season in Kashmir. The chinar trees — Kashmir’s iconic maple-like trees — turn brilliant shades of red, orange, and gold. The crowds thin out compared to peak summer, prices drop slightly, and the skies are crystal clear.

Temperature: 15°C to 25°C. Apple harvest season begins. Orchards across Sopore and Shopian are laden with fruit. Dal Lake is mirror-calm. Perfect photography conditions.
October
Temperature: 8°C to 18°C. Peak chinar season. Shalimar Bagh, Nishat Bagh, and Chashme Shahi Mughal Gardens are breathtaking in autumn colours. This is the best month for the Royal Kashmir Experience package.
November
Temperature: 2°C to 12°C. Early snowfall possible on high passes. Gulmarg gets its first snow of the season. A magical time if you want snow without full winter crowds.

Winter in Kashmir (December, January, February)
Winter Kashmir is a completely different world. Gulmarg becomes India’s premier ski resort. Dal Lake partially freezes. Srinagar’s old city looks magical under a blanket of snow.

Temperature: -2°C to 8°C. Heavy snowfall in Gulmarg. Skiing season begins. The famous “Chillai Kalan” — Kashmir’s 40-day harsh winter — starts December 21. Houseboats on Dal Lake are cosy with kangri (traditional fire pots).
January
Temperature: -8°C to 2°C. Peak snowfall. Gulmarg Gondola operates to Apharwat Peak for skiers. Dal Lake may partially freeze. Not for the faint-hearted, but absolutely magical for snow lovers.
February
Temperature: -5°C to 5°C. Snowfall continues. Late February sees almond trees beginning to blossom — a stunning contrast of white snow and pink flowers.
